We would want to look into the possibility of scheduling the URL Check report to run weekly on Monday mornings and emailing the results to certain users. This will allow us to address broken links and page title changes more consistently. There are several options to choose from this report so if it is possible to schedule this report, I will provide more information on which of the options to be selected for the scheduled reports.
Yes this can be scheduled, so please go ahead and let us know which options to use.
I have included a spreadsheet with the different combinations of how commonly we will run the report. It is OK to combine multiple report options into one job or even include everything in one job if they are categorized accordingly. If combining multiple reports, for example, combining all Summary reports into just one job, consider displaying/grouping by the specific board names as well even though I have indicated in the spreadsheet to run the reports for all boards for each of the options (if it is not possible, no problem). Same goes for the audience in cases where I have selected "Any" instead of the specific audience.
So now (in spite of what the title implies) we're creating multiple reports?
Is there a way to create only one report from the different combinations? If that can be done, I am OK with that. If not, we will choose only one combination of the options for scheduling. Currently there are two flavors of the report (one checking for the Broken URLs and the other checking for the Page Title Mismatches. There is no manual way of running both reports at once). In any case, as I have said in my comment above, it is OK to combine all the different reports in one job. If that is not possible or too time consuming to do, then let me know and we will choose only one option to schedule.
Well, the word "report" in the English language covers a variety of products. At one end of the spectrum (where most of the use of the term in the context of the CDR—as well as in the more general area of report-generating software—occurs), there is a one-to-one table/report relationship. The standard output of a report generator is a single table, and the same is true for most of the CDR reports. At the other end of the spectrum (represented largely by the world of printed reports) it is not uncommon for a committee to go off for several months and come back with a thousand-page "report" with hundreds of tables, illustrations, charts, etc. If you were to generate what's represented in the attached spreadsheet, you'd be generating fourteen separate reports.
So, to answer your original question ("Is there a way to create only one report from the different combinations?"), yes, we could use the meaning of "report" represented at the other end of the spectrum from the one where the CDR report world usually lives and package all of the tables into a single entity and call it one "report." Would it happen in a 2-point task? No, closer to 5 points (I had not noticed that subtle shift from singular to plural at the very end of the request's description when I estimated the LOE for this ticket). So this would move the ticket into that territory where you present the cost-benefit justification to ~duganal and ~juther and get a decision from them.
We decided to defer this request.
