I have a new Board member joining the Genetics Board. Her name is Jonine Bernstein and she is an external user. She will need an EBMS account.
She will be a member of the Genetics of Breast and Ovarian Cancer working group and she will review the following topics:
Genetics of Breast and Ovarian Cancer
Cancer Genetics Overview
Please let me know if additional details are needed.
Can you put in the help desk ticket to have her eDir account created?
As a side note, it appears that JIRA does not allow us to change the issue type once the ticket has been created, so we'll have to be sure to choose the value for that field carefully at the outset.
Sorry, that was the default type - I will adjust it next time. I'll submit a help desk ticket.
Jonine apparently has an NIH account already (not sure exactly which type) in order to access eRA commons (http://era.nih.gov/index.cfm). She is also in NED (https://ned.nih.gov/search/ViewDetails.aspx?NIHID=2001187450), so the help desk came back to me to see if I'm sure we want to do this. Are you able to tell if she already has an eDir account? Is the NCI eDir account distinct from NIH?
Robin: I think the answers to your questions are No, she does not appear to have an eDir account, and Yes, the NCI eDir database is not the same thing as the NIH Enterprise directory or the NIH domain accounts. I've made Bryan a watcher for this ticket so he can chime in if he thinks either of those answers is wrong. I base my first answer on the results of a couple of queries made against the LDAP server. Asking for entries where the surname (ignoring case) is "BERNSTEIN" comes up with only a single result, for DONNA BERNSTEIN, common name Bernsted. Asking for entries where the given name is JONINE comes up with JONINE FIGUEROA, common name figueroaj. Looking for common name of "bernsteinjl" (the NIH login username for your new user in the NED) comes up with no results from the LDAP server. Sorry it took so long to follow up: my ability to talk to the LDAP server from my workstation at NCI was taken away, and my request to have it restored is still pending, so I had to come back home to get the answers to your questions (I couldn't do it yesterday, because my VPN account had been locked, for an unrelated reason).
Everything but the topic assignments is done.
Jonine tried logging in as an NIH user and was unsuccessful with the account information that she uses for other systems. I've gone back to the help desk and requested an NCI network account. Bob, could you please switch her status in the EBMS to an external user rather than SSO? Thanks.
Unfortunately not. I can create a new user account of either type, but I can't change the type of an existing account. That will require a request to the DBA team. If you confirm that you want her account type switched (rather than have the SSO failure investigated), I'll create the JIRA ticket for CBIIT.
Oh, bummer. I still think we should have her account switched, though. I think that will be less painful for her and it makes more sense since she is an external user. Could you please submit the request? Thank you.
I'll need the eDir account name first.
Her eDir account has been created. The account name is: BernsteinJl.ext.nih
The account has been switched. Please have her give it a try.
Can this ticket be closed?
Not yet. I learned yesterday that she hasn't received her login information from the helpdesk yet.
I've confirmed that Jonine is now able to log into the EBMS.
