When a table cell is split and broken lines are selected for the row separator, we do not expect the cell to show any line in reports and on Cancer.gov. But it appears not to work as expected. Broken lines display as solid lines in reports and on Cancer.gov. It also appears to be the same issue with both row and column separators.
Sample summary 299612 on DEV - first table in the summary.
The two linked issues are referring to the same problem.
Regardless of the problem that's described (hiding grid lines) I was wondering why the effect hasn't been handled by merging cells in the same way it has been handled for neighboring cells within that sample table.
It could be done the same way as the neighboring cells but, for editorial purposes, we lose the ability to see the grid lines in XMetal. I guess the problem for us is that we need to lose the ability to see the grid lines in the table in order to have it display correctly in reports and on Cancer.gov.
(adding my last comment to this issue; closing related issue as duplicate)
The creative team has argued that tables created as suggested
(suppressing individual cell grid lines for display purposes) will cause
problems in terms of making the tables 508 compliant.
There are no plans to allow this behavior in the new version of
Cancer.gov (NVCG).
Since this "feature" will not be implemented in the WCMS I'm wondering if the issue should be closed.
Any response to Volker's suggestion about closing this ticket?
CG does not plan to address this issue.
