In order to add the new HP Summary section called About This PDQ Summary, we need to make some changes to the PDQ Board Member Info schema:

Please add a block called Affiliation, with two child elements. These will be AffiliationName and AffiliationPlace. These should be text elements, singly occuring. I am not sure whether we should make these required or not. The block can be at the top level, right after Contact Info if possible.

We will populate these elements programatically by using the data from the Board rosters on Cancer.gov. I will put in a separate issue for that.

Installed on Mahler (everything's optional for now).

I don't think this reflects the changes you and I talked about yesterday afternoon Bob. We decided to have a slightly different structure that had a way of designating where the AffilitationName was going to be used. We would be able to designate either Cancer.gov Board Roster, or Summary. And there will be another element where we can use a short name for the Summary if we need to. And the block will be multiply occuring since there are a few Board Members that have more than one AffliationName.

Right. I installed that version before our discussion. I'm going to defer revising the schema until you've had a chance to review what I'm working on for task #4835.

My notes from yesterday's status meeting indicate we decided not to support variant display names for the board members. I've modified the affiliation support in the schema to reflect the structures generated by issue #4835. After you've reviewed the schema I'll populate the elements on Mahler for review.

I think the schema looks fine. I was able to add multiple Affiliation blocks to Janet Dancey's record, and use the attribute to identify an AffiliationName for the Cancer.gov roster and one for a Summary Reviewer. I am putting in a separate issue for CSS/Template changes.

These schema changes can be promoted when we promote other related issues.

From what I understood after talking to Margaret the AffiliationName should be mandatory with a single occurrence. It's currently defined as an optional, multiple occurring element.
If the current definition is correct I will have to modify my SQL statement that extracts the Affiliation information.

Multiple occurrences are allowed. For the new summary section they would be joined with " & " (escaped for XML serialization of course). See Utilities/ShowPDQBoardReviewers.py in svn, as well as http://verdi.nci.nih.gov/tracker/show_bug.cgi?id=4835#c5.

I think we are ready to promote these elements. I had noted this in another issue I believe, but these elements have to be optional because we have many Advisory Board members that won't have them. We only show the Editorial Boards on Cancer.gov, and we only show the Editorial Board reviewers.

The elements have been promoted to Bach and Franck. Everything's optional (except that if you add the optional Affiliations block you have to put in at least one Affiliation sub-block).
