Description

Please adjust the permissions for reviewing citations such that a user with the site admin role only has permission to review citations for his/her assigned topics. (Alternatively, we could create a new role that has the ability to manage user accounts)

I presume that we will still be able to do everything that needs to be done even if any particular site manager is away from the office, but thought I better check.

Alan, I don't quite understand your comment/question? - sorry!

I was imagining that maybe a site manager might sometimes jump in and help with reviews that are backlogged, and that if we implement this change, that might no longer be possible. But if site managers never do that, it's a non-issue.

I take it that it's a non-issue - which is good.

Can we clarify a couple of things? The EBMS has the following roles:

  • admin assistant

  • administrator

  • board manager

  • board member

  • icrdb manager

  • medical librarian

  • site manager

There is no "site admin" role. Which role are we modifying?

Also, the ebms_topic_reviewer table only has board members in it. The ebms_topic table has an nci_reviewer column which links to the following users:

  • Victoria Shields

  • Robin Juthe

  • Sharon Quint-Kasner

  • Valerie Dyer

  • Robin Baldwin

  • CAM Reviewer

  • Rick Manrow

Is this what we're referring to by "his/her assigned topics"? If not, what does that mean?

Can you describe a specific use case for which you want different behavior than what we have now?

Thanks!

Sorry for the confusion! I was referring to the site manager role. And by "assigned topics" I mean the topics that we review as NCI reviewers.

For example, as it works now, I have the ability to reject or pass citations for CAM topics (or any Board's topics) when I should only have the ability to reject/pass the citations for the Genetics Board topics (since I am the NCI reviewer for all of the Genetics topics). Even though I'm a site manager, I should not have the ability to pass/reject citations for all topics. (It's easy to check too many boxes when they're all in a row!)
