We want to have the ability to import citations that are book chapters. Currently this is updated manually in the CDR and it is difficult to keep up with the updates. A main Book citation is created manually and the book chapters are linked to the Book. Having the ability to import book chapters would be very helpful.
Here are examples of book chapter citations currently linked in
summaries:
CDR0000796257 (CDR62855 - Summary document)
Link to PubMed - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20301575
CDR0000764230 (CDR62865 - Summary
CDR766497 - Summary)

I spoke with Ning again to get a sense of what problem we are trying to resolve, as well as issues users are facing with the current process. Below are some of the points from our meeting. We need to speak with other members of her team about this, so I may update this ticket with additional information later.
1. There are just a few book chapters in the CDR. In most cases, at the time the chapters were created in the CDR, they weren't available in PubMed and even if they were, we wouldn't have been able to import them as book chapters.
2. Each time a summary (containing a link to a book chapter) is
updated,
i. the link to the online resource needs to be checked to ensure
that it is not broken and
ii. the Last accessed date field needs to be updated as well.
iii. Or in some cases, a new book chapter citation record is
created instead of updating the existing one.
Sometimes, these need to be done right before the changes are published
and it could take significant amount of time to research, create and
link the citation.
3. Sometimes, the authors of the book chapters change online so the information provided in the summary citation may be out of date. There is therefore the need to keep that information up to date.
4. Sometimes, researching issues with the book chapters online could be complicated because there have been cases where some of the information in the citation comes from the book and other information comes from the online book chapters.
We agreed that while this will be a useful feature to have, it is not necessary to implement it in this current release if it will take too much time and effort.
