Discuss the possible improvement of the process of adding a summary topic to a citation in the queues.
Currently this is a 3-step process that has been getting slower over the years. Maybe the Drupal upgrade alone will improve processing but if not, we may need to take a look at this feature.
Also, currently it is difficult to make corrections once each step of the process has been selected. If the user selects the wrong summary topic or review cycle, the user must click on the little pencil icon and erase everything and start over.
In addition, users can only add one topic at a time and involves lots of extra “work around” steps to add additional topics.
Considerations:
How often do users add summary topics while reviewing?
During the med lib review, at the most 20-25 summary topics are added each month with even fewer cases of more than one topic being added at a time. This is not a feature that is used extensively and therefore the issues presented here are not creating too much of a time loss. But this feature is necessary for citation review.
This ticket can be closed. Adding summary topics from the queues has been much improved in the new version of EBMS with the D9 upgrade.
