Description

We have started noticing that some summaries (so far only HP summaries but Patient summaries could be affected as well) on Cancer.gov have the (PDQ®) trademark appended to the left nav text on Cancer.gov.  They look inconsistent (with the other left nav items) and they appear to communicate the idea that the other left nav items are not PDQ® content. These summaries need to be manually updated in Drupal (Lindsay has been made aware of this issue).

We need to first find all affected summaries (English and Spanish) either in the CDR or in Drupal (or both?).  Second, it looks like this was caused by the browser title changes we recently made. It appears that any existing summary that did not already have an override in the left nav was populated with the new browser title which appends the PDQ symbol (this is just a theory at this point).  I do not expect us to find a lot of summaries that have been affected by this issue, but I may be wrong.

Also, new summaries that have been published since the browser title changes and any future summaries that we publish from the CDR will likely have the same issue unless we inform an IA to override them.  So, the questions are:

  1. Is it possible to generate a list of such summaries on Drupal especially since we don't have a way of identifying such summaries in the CDR (no left nav element in the CDR)?

  2. For new summaries in the future, is there a way to prevent this from happening other than remembering to inform the Cancer.gov IAs to fix the problem after the fact?

Here are some examples:

There are 104 HP summaries for which no left-nav override has been specified. List attached. I have reached out to Lindsay to discuss approaches.

said that the approach for avoiding this problem in the future will be for CIAT to create a JIRAX ticket when a new HP summary is created to have the left nav override created. Make sure the ticket is in the O&M project (not OCECDR) for data update requests.

Only if you promise to ask yourself the following questions before you enter tickets requesting reports:

  • How will this report be used?

  • What information will be needed to support that usage?
