Description

As a summary editor, I want to be able to copy summary content from a QC report and paste it in a Word document so that I do not have to make additional formatting changes to tables and font size.

Currently the copy and paste from a QC report in Chrome to a Word document does not display the whole table with wider widths. Word also displays a different font size from the one copied. There are workarounds to get the tables to display correctly. However, they are time consuming as you need to fix the problem on a per table basis. It will be good to modify the existing macros for board managers so that tables display correctly when copied from Chrome to Word.

Acceptance criteria:

Scenario: Customized macros are able to fix tables and font size that do not display fully when copied from Chrome into Word

Given that I am a CDR Summary term editor

And I have access to customized macros

And I generate a QC report using the Chrome browser

When I copy content from the QC report in Chrome into MS Word that contains a table with a wider width

And a wider table does not display fully

And the font size does not display as expected

Then when I run the macros, they should fix the displays so that the full table is displayed and the font size is also displayed correctly

I've been able to create a macro that adjusts the table width for all tables pasted into Word.

The description of the ticket doesn't mention it but also reported that the font style of the text inside the table gets converted to Times Roman (from Arial).

I've created two macros, one to adjust the table width and one to set the font size for lists to 12pt.  I'm assuming every board manager will want the table macro but not necessarily the same font size macro if some of the board managers are using different fonts from Arial, 12pt.

I have updated the ticket to indicate that two macros are needed.

and I successfully tested the new macros today on her machine.

The instructions to update the macros file are fairly easy but there are a number of "gotchas" that could come up, so it may be best - in general - if I am watching our board managers when they copy the file.  These are the instructions:

  • Exit Word

  • Go to
    L:\OCPL_Cross\CDR\WordStartup

  • Copy the file
    CDR_Macros
(it may be displayed with an extension of *.dotm

  • Go to
    C:\CDR\WordStartup

  • Paste the document and replace the existing file.

I've helped everyone who had issues to copy the new macros file and provided instructions on how to setup these macros.  At this point I haven't received feedback from Robin J, Leshia, or Christina if they have the latest copy.

Closing this macro ticket.  Feel free to open it again in case someone still needs help installing the macros on their machine.
