When we assign additional PDQ sponsorship to existing ones, the newly
assigned ones are not preserved after the trial is updated.
For example, CDR744927. If you look at version 3 (1/11/13), from when it
was published,
it had two sponsorships pharm and other. If you look at version 4
(6/20/13), the “other” sponsorship was removed when the import program
created a new version of the trial.
Tagged it as CTGov.
The PDQSponsorship element has never been controlled by the CIAT editors. Instead the values are determined based on what is found in the document received from NLM, based on some very complicated logic provided by Lakshmi many years ago.
Unlike many of the CTGov elements, the PDQSponsorship element is multiply occurring and we are able to assign additional sponsorship after reviewing the protocol. Each protocol that is imported comes in already assigned one or more sponsorship values but we are also able to assign additional sponsorship values after reviewing the protocol which need to be preserved.
You're able to do it, but you're not supposed to. That part of the document isn't owned by PDQ.
Margaret and Lakshmi discussed this issue and decided that as long as NCI sponsorship was being mapped correctly, there is no need to worry about manually assigning collaborator sponsorship. CIAT will no longer be manually assigning sponsorship for collaborators. Thanks!
