The updates to our L drive over the weekend have disconnected the link from our local machines to the summaries Word macros stored on the network. I think this will be a fairly simple change to update the shortcut but we'll let Volker do it when he gets back. Thanks!

Do you know what has changed, Robin?

The name of the drive (is this called the UCD? something like that) has changed slightly. As a result, all of our shortcuts have needed to be changed, so I think this includes the shortcut to call the macro function stored on the network. I believe the only addition to the name is the number "2". here is the current name (unfortunately I don't know how/if I can look up the old name for comparison):

nci6116g.nci.nih.gov\Group2

However, Diana mentioned to me this morning that her personalized macro IS working, so maybe my theory about the path needing updating is flawed!

I took a look at this and was able to restore the macros on my machine with a few steps. The macros have been disabled because the group drive wasn't available anymore.
I am going to list the steps here and everyone can perform those on their own or I could go around and do the changes for the board managers when they are in their offices.

a) If not already done since the L-drive had been restored reboot the system.
b) In Word:

  • Start --> Word Options

  • Click 'Trust Center'

  • Click 'Trust Center Settings ...'

  • Click 'Macro Settings'

  • Click Macro Settings option 'Enable all marcros (not recommended; ...)

  • Click Trusted Locations

  • Highlight the location ending in '...\WordStartup' and click 'Modify...'

  • Click 'Browse...' and navigate to

    NCI6116g.nci.nih.gov\group2\OCE_CROSS\CDR\WordStartup

  • Click 'OK', 'OK', 'OK', 'OK'

  • Restart Word, test the Macro.

I have the problem fixed on my machine and Victoria asked me if I could help her to get the macros back, so I tried to repeat on her system what I did on mine.
I spend about 20 minutes but was unable to restore the macros for her. I'm guessing that the new group drive may have different permissions but I need to check on that a little more.
I probably need to try again on another machine to make sure the problem is not something specific to Victoria's computer.
Any volunteers?

One step was missing:
Under 'Word Options' -> Advanced Tab -> File Locations
set the 'Startup' path to
L:\OCE_CROSS\CDR\WordStartup

The paths have been modified for
Victoria
Sharon
Robin H.
Robin B.
Diana

I'll take care of Val's setup once she's in the office.

Val and Deb have been setup with the new macro location.

If everyone is happy this issue can be closed now.
