When CDR users change their names, mostly due to marriage or divorce, I make appropriate changes to their accounts to reflect their new names and email addresses but I do not change the User Ids because of the potential of negatively affecting reports like the Document Activity report which uses the User Id as one of the parameters. Meanwhile, our CDR user ids are structured in a format that makes it easy for other CDR users to recognize who entered a comment, for example. The format is usually the first initial and the last name as in lsmith for Lorna Smith. The problem is that it is the last name which usually changes. Users have always asked to have their user names changed to reflect their new names when I update their accounts in the CDR but I have not been able to do this due to the limitation mentioned above. We discussed ways to address this last week in the CDR meeting and two suggestions were made:
1. Create a new user account for the user
2. Make changes to the user id of the user and do a global change to change the old user ids in CDR documents.

We agreed to implement a 3rd option that Bob suggested - changing the username (User id) and NOT do a global.
