From the Librarian Queue, when the Download Full Text button is clicked the pdf does not open in a new window and leaves users without a way to get back to the queue without using the browser back button.
The BMs Full Text Review Queue's Download Full Text Button is not opening in a new window either. The BMs Abstract Review Queue is likely not to have this button appear but is possible for citations with overlapping topics across boards. I have looked through several hundred citations in this queue and have not found a Download Full Text button to actually test but my guess is that it too may not be opening in a new window either.
A new tab is used for all the queues on https://ebms.rksystems.com.
I'm not sure the code has control over whether it's a new tab or a new window. I'm pretty sure that's under the control of the user, who I believe can manage this decision by changing the browser configuration. But for sure we're achieving the ultimate goal, which is to avoid replacing the queue page with the PDF.
Good point and yes I agree either way we are achieving the same goal.
This is working on erc. I have tested the button in the Librarian queue as well as the BM Full Text Queue.
In the Librarian Queue there are 3 Download Full Text buttons that I can test. 2 of the 3 work as expected. The 3rd opens in a new tab but displays a page not found message. With further investigation this seems to be an issue with the link itself because I get the same page not found message when I access the pdf from the link in the Full Article History. However, in Prod the link works and displays the PDF which is why I have brought this to your attention.

This citation appears first in the Librarian queue with no filter or display options applied.
All better. 😃
Awesome! Looks good on erc.
