Right. I was planning on conveying that information on the user help pages, since

  1. multi-select boxes appear in other places, too; and

  2. I was just asked by Victoria to remove the help text for that (and other) fields

We can add the information here instead of (or in addition to) the user manuals, but we'd probably want to have a wider discussion about the decision than just the two of us.

Added watchers.

Agreed. I'd like to keep the help text to a minimum but there may be some help text that we do want to keep but would definitely require discussion. In addition to a target skill level we can assume all users have especially on pages that are accessed by board members.

This may not be something we want to take on in everglades but good to have in the backlog for later.

and have indicated a preference for the user-manual-only documentation of the instructions (partly based on that fact that the behavior on the forms is standard for multi-select combo boxes in all applications, so the technique is likely to be familiar for a good percentage of the users already), but they will be meeting with the other board members to widen the discussion and elicit additional input.

Hi , we just discussed this and decided to include this instruction on the help page, rather than on the Search form since it is standard practice for selecting multiple items in a list. Thanks!

This ticket may probably be closed but I am moving it to the QA Verified pool just in case the help pages need to be reviewed.
