Email from Bonnie:
So I just tried to run a print job but I can’t open it from my downloads (I don’t want to actually print it since the printer where it would print is DOA at the moment so I was going to open and print it myself on another printer). The print jobs (482 and 483-which is the second attempt) will not open. They are both showing as TAR file-see below. This seems to be a reoccurring problem when every we have an upgrade. I haven’t run an EBMS job since Aug and Canyonlands was in Sept. I’m not sure why this problem doesn’t show up when I test it.
It appears the default printer isn't doing so well and is getting sick fairly often. We may need to setup the print command for a different printer.
I will discuss the situation in more detail with Bonnie when she needs to print again.
I met with Bonnie today to look at her computer and see how she could print the output of the print jobs herself.
I created a small script which will allow her to do that and we will meet again next week to copy the script to her computer and test it.
ExtractPrintJob.cmd
Yay!
Bonnie and I copied the script to her computer. It is located in the same directory she typically accesses to print or preview printjobs:
{{ C:\CDR\EBMS\bin}}
From here, Bonnie will be able to extract the PDF files with the command:
{{ C:\CDR\EBMS\bin> ExtractPrintJob 999}}
The documents will be extracted into the following directory and can be printed from there:
{{ C:\Users\<bonnie>\Downloads\Printjobs\PrintJob00NNN}}
I will close the issue once Bonnie created and successfully printed her next print job.
~bkline, is there a place in the EBMS repository where this helper script should be stored?
How about https://github.com/NCIOCPL/ebms/tree/master/scripts or (perhaps better) https://github.com/NCIOCPL/ebms/tree/master/PrintClient?
You might also want to add information about the script to https://github.com/NCIOCPL/ebms/blob/master/PrintClient/RunEbmsPrintJob.doc.
And/or add a README.md file to the PrintClient directory. 😉
After talking to Bonnie this issue has been resolved.
Closing ticket.
