I'd like to have a more custom Create Packet Page. Because there are about 75 adult treatment topics, my page can be very long and difficult to manage. I need to think about what might work and talk to the other board managers, so I don't have requirements yet, but I wanted to go ahead and put in an issue now as a placeholder for this task.
It might be useful to think of this request as something that might be implemented in conjunction with the work for ticket OCEEBMS-65.
I thought the same thing! There are probably elements that will work for all of the board managers, but in the end, I do think I'll want a much more custom page than anyone else would want. This will be an interesting one.
A separate issue (OCEEBMS-202) was created for changes to the create packet page that pertain to all Boards. This issue will be used to capture changes specific to managing the packets for the Adult Board.
I have thought about what kind of queue would work better for me. Rather than have all of my topics listed alphabetically, I'd prefer to have them grouped by disease type (digestive, respiratory, etc.). I've attached a sample.
Some questions:
Has it been decided that this the alternate interface for selecting a topic is to be applied just to the Adult Treatment board (as opposed to having it be linked to Victoria's account, or set up as a configurable account preference)?
Can I assume that the same interface should be used when editing an existing packet? Or is it just to be used (as the ticket states) for creating new packets?
Can I get the comprehensive list of disease types for the Adult Treatment board's topics?
I think we're going to need a name like "topic group" or "topic category" instead of "disease type" for these groupings, because:
"disease type" wouldn't work for some of the other boards, some of whose topics refer not to cancer types, but to other entities (e.g., symptoms, treatment modalities, side effects, etc); and
even for the Adult Treatment board, some of the topics don't refer to diseases (for example, "General Adult Treatment" or "Cost of Cancer Care").
Hi Bob!
1. There's been no official discussion of this, and I'm not sure what
the difference is between this being applied to the Adult Treatment
Board versus my account. Maybe we (you and I) need to discuss
this?
2. I only intended for this interface to be used when I am creating
packets. I am fine using the current application to edit packets.
3. I am working on the list right now. Will attach it shortly.
A question for you:
1. What will happen when I add, delete, or change the name of a summary?
Will I (or the administrator) be able to edit this page?
Thanks,
Victoria.
For your last comment, which page are you talking about?
Will these changes affect other Boards? I didn't intend for other Boards to be affected, so I want to be careful about that.
My last comment was addressing what we'll call the topic groups. You referred to them as "disease types" but I'm not sure that's appropriate in all cases. It hadn't been decided yet whether we would make this new interface available based on a per-account preference. It sounds as if you just want it for the Adult Treatment board, at least for now. Even if we just do this for that board, we've got topics that don't refer to diseases. Even if we got rid of those topics for the Adult Treatment board, I'd like to be able to anticipate the possibility that we could handle future requests to extend this alternate packet editing interface to other boards without lots of gratuitous changes. That's why I'm trying to steer us toward terminology which is generic enough to deal with all of the topics.
It's just as easy (maybe even easier) to have the EDIT PACKET page match the CREATE PACKET page for the same board, in case your previous answer about that question was influence by an assumption that it would be extra work to do it for both.
When you say "change the name of a summary" I assume you mean "change the name of a topic" right? In most cases there's a one-to-one correspondence but not always. There's an interface for managing the topics (including its name) already, and that will be enhanced to allow selection of the topic group for the topic.
Thanks, now I understand what you mean about disease types.
I will think more about your question regarding the EDIT PACKET page. I hadn't thought of changing that, but will, now that I know it's easy.
Yes, I mean change the name of a topic, not summary. If you are saying that the MANAGE SUMMARY TOPICS page would be the place to add, delete, or change topics for the packet pages, that sounds great.
I did add an updated list of topics to the issue (not sure if you got notification of that).
Thanks!
I got your list. I had to create the SQL queries to populate the new column of the ebms_topic table by hand, because the topic names in the Word document didn't match the strings in the table in many of the cases, so you'll need to review the results carefully.

My next task for this ticket will be to create the user interface for managing the topic groups.
The enhancement has been implemented on DEV. The page for editing an existing packet does not support changing the topic, so this only applies to the Create Packet page, as you originally indicated.
Bob,
I tried out this page and played around with the new Manage Summary Topic Groups page and the new features on the Manage Summary Topics page and I LOVE IT! So far, I've been able to move around and create topics and groups just as I envisioned, and the CREATE PACKET PAGE is so much easier to use. I just wanted to let you know how great the changes are looking. (And I fear the other Board managers will be jealous! They are all going to want their own custom page!)
Thanks,
Victoria.
Thanks for the feedback. It's always gratifying when we make our users happy! :-)
Still loving my new page!
On the new Manage Summary Topic Groups page, would you change the button at the top of the page to say ADD NEW TOPIC GROUP?
Thanks!
New ticket, please. :-)
Verified on QA. Related ticket OCEEBMS-352 opened.
Verified on PROD.
(Still loving this one!)
