Before we used the clinical trials search API we created search links based on a summaries type, diagnosis, etc. Since the search API didn't (doesn't?) provide this functionality we modified the code to create a generic link to the advanced search page.
The code for creating a more specific link is still part of the summary filters. I'm wondering if the code that resolves the ClinicalTrialSearchLink placeholder can be removed.
I started to remove the code when I thought I should talk to Sarina to find out if it's possible to go back to the old way of creating the clinical trial search links. Some of that functionality may be available and I wanted to discuss the details with Sarina first. However, at yesterday's meeting ~juther confirmed that it is unlikely we would go back to the old way and create more specific search strings. Therefore, I went ahead and removed the old code.
Please note that the misc. documents named "Clinical Trial Search Text ..." are still including sections we used which include the PlaceHolder element "ClinicalTrialSearchLink". These sections were specific for each summary type and only the last section with the cdr:id="_all" is used, meaning that all of the other sections could be removed as well.
