Let's use this ticket to track problems with summary updates which aren't showing up on the web site because our cache-clearing requests aren't taking effect for at least some of the Akamai edge servers.

The most recent failure was for the CIS CDR732778 (Aspectos generales de la prevención del cáncer (PDQ®)–Versión para pacientes), the Spanish translation for Drupal node 6158, published Friday, March 13. Purge request 2d5aeed8-656d-11ea-84eb-d7a16f6f6d64 was sent to Akamai, which reported acceptance of the request, with a projected completion of the purge of five seconds or less. The previous version of the summary was still returned by Akamai until several days later (March 19) when we forcibly cleared the cache ourselves. The problem was reported to Akamai technical support on March 17, and as of today (Monday, March 23) they are still working on determining what happened.

I have analyzed all of the summaries published in production last week and confirmed that Akamai received and acknowledged the cache-purging requests for all of them.

After you and your colleagues have had a chance to check the published summaries, please post a comment here, ~oseipokuw, indicating whether any of them are still showing stale information.

The cache has been force-cleared. Still working on tracking down the root cause of the failures.

I finally tracked down the cause of the problem to a bug in the third-party purge Drupal module. I have installed a workaround on DEV, and I'm asking ~volker to run a test publishing job before I push it up the tiers. Hoping to get it in place by Friday, in time for the weekly publishing job. I have also created a patch for the bug, in case the maintainers are willing to actually get the bug fixed. 🙂
