This has been reported by Robin J. as a problem that surfaced as part
of the Curie release:
When the user is printing the BoardRoster report, the report prints OK.
However, when the report is to be printed with extra blank columns the
report shrinks the text and the blank column(s) are taking up too much
space.
Please repeat after me: "This is only a problem with IE." :-)
I believe the change in behavior is a result of the security remediation work performed for the Curie release and it appears that IE is again the biggest problem. However, it's possible that I have FF setup so that it doesn't shrink to fit a page while IE does.
Anyway, we used to be smart and anticipated problems with empty column widths and we built an easy workaround for this problem. When entering the number of additional blank columns to be printed on the report you can specify the width of those columns. By default the report is created with the width of the blank columns set automatically but entering
1:50
or
3:50 100 60
in the Extra Cols field, the report will be created - and printed - with one extra column 50 pixel wide (first example) or 3 extra columns with the widths of 50 pixels, 100 pixels, and 60 pixels, respectively.
We've discovered that this is a problem (although a slightly different problem) with each browser. We decided in the status meeting to copy/paste these data into Word and adjust column widths & print from there.
