Deb and Diana would like this report to be updated to display the bulleted text of the Drug Information Summary as it is entered in the CDR, rather than all jumbled together without any formatting. This will make it easy to quickly scan the indications when they view this report.
If possible, they would also like to make the following enhancements to the formatting (in order of importance):
1. Display text that is in strong tags as bold (as in the QC report)
– first choice
2. Display the glossary links within the drug summary section (like in
the QC report, nice to have)
3. Also link the CDR ID to the QC report for the DIS or DCS (if it is
easy to add).
Please let us know if any of these items are significantly more time consuming than the others. The top priority is fixing the bulleted text.
Thanks!

This statement requires some explanation. The drugs are entered in XMetaL within a table. Should these drugs be listed as a bulleted list or as a table?

Sorry for the confusion. I was referring to the uses of the drug rather than the drug names, but you brought up a good point about the way the drug names are entered in the drug combination summaries. I will ask Deb about those and whether she would want them to appear in a table as they appear in the CDR.
For the drug indications, I believe these are entered in an itemized list and list item elements (see bevacizumab - CDR0000487564 - as an example). Could those be displayed in a bulleted list in the report?

If feasible, we'd like to have the drug names in the drug combination summaries appear within a table, as they are entered in XMetaL.

One more question:
Obviously the users would like the SummarySections displayed a little
more like the listing in XMetaL or the QC reports. However, I'm hoping
we're not trying a complete rewrite of the display of the QC reports
like properly marked-up insertion/deletion text, display of
compact/non-compact lists, etc.
Is there anything else that should be preserved?

No, we aren't looking to replace/rewrite the QC reports. The primary goal is to make this report more readable, which breaking up the text and adding the bold headings will do. I don't know if it requires more effort to put the drug names into a table as opposed to a list, but if it does, then I think a list would be fine.

I think I finished the changes to the report (and I think Deb and
Diana will be happy). I've created a new filter
CDR743372 - Format DIS SummarySection
and updated the program
DrugDescriptionReport.py
This is ready for review on MAHLER.
