We would like to generate a list of summaries in a tabular format to be used by the Board managers for checklists and creating tracking sheets for various tasks. We think this could be done by adding an option to the Summaries Lists report to generate the results in a table format with an extra (blank) column (we could always add additional columns to that), or to generate the list of summaries in Excel as opposed to HTML. Let's talk about these options and determine what makes the most sense. (We might want to rename the issue depending on which solution we decide on.)

I talked with Victoria about this report, and we would like it to be generated in an HTML format.

I've updated the following program on MAHLER:
SummariesLists.py

This version allows you to display the report with CDR-ID and/or blank column and with or without a table grid.
I wasn't sure if a heading is needed for the table version and how large the blank column was supposed to be. It is currently set to 25% of the table width.

This is ready for review on MAHLER.

I think column headings are a good idea; could you please add "CDR ID" and "Title" as headings for the first two columns? You can leave the heading of the third column blank.

I noticed that this report cannot be easily converted to Word. I had to copy and paste the table into Word and when I did so, the rows became taller. I am guessing this is a Microsoft issue, and not something we have control over. Is that right?

Column headings have been added to the report.

> I noticed that this report cannot be easily converted to Word.

Yes, this is a Microsoft problem. It seems that you don't have as many problems with the result when copying from FF instead of IE. Under IE the result is a bit better if you specify 'Match Destination Formatting' in the Paste options. You will still need to make the grid lines for the table to be displayed manually.

Another option might be to paste the table into LibreOffice and save from here as a Word document. LibreOffice (formerly OpenOffice.org) is much better at converting HTML documents into either Word or Excel files.

This is ready for review on MAHLER.

Using Paste Special and preserving the formatting seems like the best bet. I tried downloading LibreOffice but was blocked without admin rights. I'm sure we'll all want to do some additional formatting once it gets into Word in order to add more columns, show gridlines, etc.

I noticed when you run the report for a group of summaries (e.g., all English), the table header row is only added to the first table. Could it be added to each table? Thanks.

Robin and Victoria told me on Friday that this report was ready to go to production. I've copied the following program to FRANCK and BACH:
SummariesLists.py - R10392

Please verify on BACH and close this bug.
