CIAT needs to be able to use the import utility on the CiteMS development server. Currently we are only able to connect to the CiteMS web interface on the development server. If possible, please provide instructions on how to do the configuration on our computers.

I'm working on this now.

My plan is to add a checkbox, or radio button, or whatever, to the little userid/password login window to allow a user to select the production or test database with the default = production.

The main window currently has a title bar that says:

NCI CMS Import Utility

Other strings might appear after that one, e.g., "[Records]"

NCI CMS Import Utility [Records]

If the user logs into the test database I plan to change the main window title bar to something like:

NCI CMS Import Utility TEST DATABASE
NCI CMS Import Utility TEST DATABASE [Records]

After I get this working, we'll have a way for someone who knows a lot more than I do to test the load of Pubmed titles - which I'll then do.

This will require distribution of a new executable to the current users - which may only be Cynthia, Minaxi and William. I think the installation should be a straightforward drop in replacement for the old Cips_CMS.exe. The DLL and OCX files that were more of a pain to install will not change.

I have completed the changes as described in comment #2. The revised import utility is available for test.

I propose to email the new executable ("Cips_CMS.exe") as an attachment to whoever will be testing this.

The userids in the test database are the same as in the production database. Passwords are all identical except that in the test database they are prefixed with the string "test". In other words, logging in to the test database via the import utility is the same as logging into it via the web interface.

I recommend that the tester(s) rename the old program and then copy the new into the same directory where the old one was. For example:

  1. Exit the import utility
    cd wherever
    rename Cips_CMS.exe Cips_CMS.exe.old

  2. Then save the new program into the same directory.

Let me know who should receive the modified program for testing.

I'm marking this resolved-fixed and will begin work on uploading Pubmed journal titles into the test database (OCECDR-3154).

I had forgotten that NIH security measures strip out exe attachments from outgoing email.

I'm not sure who can access the ftp site, but I'm pretty sure that only project people on the CDR and Citation Management System can access this part of Bugzilla, so I'm attaching the program to the Bugzilla issue.

Please download it from here.

If this doesn't work, let me know.

Since we did not find any problems with this enhancement, I am closing this issue. Thank you, Alan!
