Description

If a search query performed on the Board Member Search Citations page yields a single citation and a PDF for that citation is not available (either the citation is in the system without a full-text PDF OR the citation is not in the system), please display the following text:

"A PDF of this article is not available in the EBMS. E-mail your Board manager to request a copy of this article."

Just to clarify the wording of the requirements: if an article is not in the system, then the search subsystem will yield an empty results set, not a set with a single article. So the only condition in which this new text will be displayed is when the article is in the system, but its PDF is not.

Actually, a search performed by a board member never returns any articles for which the full text PDF is not in the EBMS (that was one of the requirements for the board member search; see OCEEBMS-370).

Moving this to the backlog so we can revisit it in the future. We chose to display this text for citations that Board members search for in the PMID field so these are handled differently.

The text is displayed when a board member enters in the top PMID search box the PMID of an article for which we do not yet have the full text PDF.

We'd like this text to appear if a Board member searches using the PMID box at the top of the page OR if the Board member uses the SEARCH CITATIONS page. Right now, they get a SEARCH RESULTS (0) message when they use the search page, and they see this text if they use the PMID field.

Would it be possible to display this text in both cases (i.e., add this to the 'null' result display for the SEARCH CITATIONS page for Board member)?

We agreed in the weekly status meeting that it didn't make sense to change the logic which excludes articles without full-text PDF from the results for a board member's search.

Just to add a little more context for myself before I close this issue, we discussed the fact that the search results page includes so many parameters that the results often include many citations; therefore, it doesn't make sense to display this message (which is intended for a single citation).

Closing this issue.

Are you sure you want to close the ticket now? I did implement the request for displaying the text when the user puts the PMID in the box at the top of the page, and that change hasn't been deployed anywhere except DEV, I think.
