It often happens to me that I open a document to review it and then realize the document has to be edited but I loaded the document in read-only mode.
It would be very useful to have a button or menu option available that runs a macro which checks out the current document, if possible. This option shouldn't be limited to summaries but would also be useful for Licensee docs, Misc. docs, GlossaryTerm, etc.
Installed on CDR DEV.
How do I call this new feature? The code says there should be a "Edit Document" something but I can't find a button/menu/etc.
It's on the context menu. Right-click anywhere on the document. Only available if the active document is read-only (for obvious reasons). You did restart XMetaL, right?
Yes, I did restart XMetaL but I still don't see it:
This is strange. I'm seeing it, you're not. I think we'll need to do a screen share to sort this out.
I found it! I was on the wrong machine using XMetaL 9.0. Works as expected when using XMetaL 17. I'm just wondering if it might make more sense to have the option "Edit document" next to the option "Edit element" but I'm OK with the location either way it you think it belongs to the bottom of the list.
I kind of like the convenience of having it right at the end, so easy to get to (like you, I think of this as a potentially very useful macro).
Confirmed on QA.
