Description

I have been testing XMetal 17 today and ran into what appeared to be a puzzling issue, but I later found out what was happening although it doesn't resolve all the issues. We have a test document CDR0000668479 normally titled "Do Not Publish" that we use for testing on all tiers. Whenever I searched for the document on DEV (on the VM - XMetal 17), CDR crashes or freezes, and I had to end the XMetal service before I can log back in again. (Same search on PROD for the same document comes up without any problems). Well, it turned out that I had recently used this document (CDR0000668479 ) on DEV (VM) to test out a Replace Doc With New Doc functionality to troubleshoot a problem we were having last week and so the title had changed to "Test Summary Temp" (I had forgotten about it and did not change it back to the original title). So, I was searching for a nonexistent summary and no other summary matched my search terms "%do%not%publish%". Puzzle solved when I retrieved the document by the CDR ID and realized the title had changed last week). However, I proceed to search with terms that I knew would not be in a summary title and each time, the CDR (XMetal 17) crashes. I searched other document types with different terms that are nonexistent with same results (CDR freezes or crashes). Same terms searched on PROD produces the expected warning message below: No documents match this query.

The above warning does not appear to be happing on XMetal 17.

Repro steps:

  1. Log into XMetal 17 on the DEV server

  1.  Type Ctrl +q to bring up the CDR search menu

  1.  Type into the Doc Title field any terms (that are likely not in the CDR) with or without wild cards

  1.  Select any document type and leave other options on default

  1. Click on the search button (expect CDR to freeze)

Fixed on CDR DEV (restart of XMetaL required). XMetaL hadn't crashed, the popup reporting that there were no matches for the search values was hidden behind the main search dialog.

Verified on DEV. Thanks!

I have updated the title of the ticket to reflect the behavior.
