As I mentioned in our status meeting this week, Crystal has been having problems with incorrect page numbers listed in the table of contents (TOC) when she uses the TOC Word Macro. Could you please take a look at this when you get a chance? Thanks, Volker!
Before I start looking into this I have a couple questions:
Which is Crystal's board?
Is this an issue affecting every summary or does it happen so some but not all?
Is this an issue when the document is printed or is it viewable within Word?
I'm sure I'll have more questions but this is a good start.
... and here I have another one: Did you mean to enter this as an EBMS ticket?
Oops! I moved it to the CDR project. 🙂
Peds!
I'll get back to you on #s 2&3.
If you don't know that's OK. I'll just talk to Crystal and have her give me a little demo.
I just wrote to Crystal and will let you know!
Per Crystal's email:
2) It does not seem to happen to every summary but I got corrections for Ch Medulloblastoma and Other CNS Embryonal Tumors and was informed the page numbers were incorrect for Ch Extracranial Germ Cell Tumor. I did notice the pages were off on a summary earlier this week but I cannot remember which one it was. The most recent summaries I have looked at were correct.
3) The problem can be viewed in word, the summaries do not need to be printed.
I'm not certain what's going on but I have asked Crystal in an email to pay attention if the following may possibly be the issue:
It appears – not really a surprise – that the table of contents is being generated by using the page numbers of the document as they have been before the TOC is inserted. For a very long summary like yours, where the TOC itself is 2 pages long, this would throw off the page numbers enough to be noticeable. If after you’ve created the TOC and you’re clicking inside the TOC, you should see a button at the top allowing you to update the page numbers for the TOC.
This may be something we can include to do as part of the macro if you can confirm that this is the problem you’re seeing.
As discussed, the user will update the page numbers for the TOC after all edits are completed to adjust for any changes in the page numbers.
There is currently nothing else that needs to be done. I'm closing the ticket.
