Message from Bonnie:
Tried to run the Ependymoma mailer (774967 is for advisory member-Foreman, 62843 is the summary). And got this message. I still have to run Retinoblastoma too so would one of you do your magic and clear this one out so I can attempt the other one? Also not sure what the problem is-both checked out ok with validation.
Error message:
"Failure cocnverting Mailer*.tex to Mailer*.ps: failure running LaTeX
processor..."
We were able to reproduce this error on the QA server and it appears
to be a data issue. It seems that the image plus the
caption is more content than can fit on a single page. This is true for
both of the images that are part of the module.
I was able to significantly shorten the caption and then run the mailers
successfully on QA.
This issue was discussed at the status meeting. The mailer output is in most cases not used. The mailer is merely run in order to create a mailer ID. If this is the case for all boards there would be no need to fix this issue.
It has been discussed if it's possible to run the mailers but ignoring any errors (i.e. large tables, large images) or not even create any output (LaTeX draft mode) so that the creation of the IDs would still succeed even if the output doesn't get created. This may be possible, for instance, by modifying the raised exceptions in cdrmailers.py within the makePS() function.
~mbeckwit and ~juther will identify if the mailer output is still being used by one of the board managers.
We no longer need to generate these mailers. See OCECDR-4573. Closing issue.
