Search string/section metadata blurbs do not show up in publish previews for CAM summaries. It may not have been implemented for CAM originally. I hear Robin B. wants them in her summaries. Could you please implement this for CAM summaries? Example: Antineoplastons - CDR0000539333 (Bach)- under "Current Clinical Trials" Section.

That is correct. The search strings have only been implemented for treatment and HP Supportive Care summaries.

Are we going to follow the same rules as for those summaries (i.e. create a search string SummarySection if the TopLevel search string attribute exists)?

CDR000157.xml - Vendor Filter: Summary

This is ready for review on MAHLER.

I ran a diff report for Summaries on FRANCK and the two output data sets are identical. This shows - at a minimum - that I didn't break anything.
Since there is currently no data available for the CAM summaries on FRANCK (at least not as part of a publishable version) that's all the information that we can deduct from the diff report.

I've copied the filter to FRANCK and BACH:
CDR000157.xml - Vendor Filter: Summary

Please verify on BACH and close this bug.

The blurb displays accurately but the search results appear not to match the linked metadata terms. Please let me know if you need some examples.

Take a look at pub preview of Antineoplastons 539333 (on Bach) and click the link for antineoplaston A10. The trials that are retrieved are not relevant to the drug. However, diagnosis terms retrieve relevant results. Also, when you take a look at the search criteria, the Cancer “Type/Condition:” and “Stage/Subtype:” criteria are missing for drug terms. So this appears to an issue with the implementation for non diagnosis terms.

I thought all I had to do was to allow the CAM summaries to be creating the Trial Search section, too. Now I see - and vaguely remember - that there are additional parameters that need to be set.
There are two parameters to be set:
format: 1 - Patients, 2 - HP
tt: 1 - Treatment, 2 - Supportive Care (tt=TrialType)

I'm guessing that the format needs to be set to HP (2) and the type to be set to non-treatment (2).

Could you please check if this link displays the correct search result?
http://www.cancer.gov/Search/ClinicalTrialsLink.aspx?Drug=41984&tt=2&format=2&cn=1

Do you mean results for Antineoplastons? If yes, then they are not the right results.

I remember that I've seen a document about the values of the parameters when we originally added the search strings to the summaries. I am trying to find this document (unsuccessfully so far) but without it all I can do is to try out different values.

When inspecting the source of the trials search page there are several values for the trial type available but none of them is for CAM:
tt=0 - All
tt=1 - Treatment
tt=2 - Supportive care
tt=3 - Screening
tt=4 - Prevention
tt=5 - Genetics_
tt=6 - Diagnostic
tt=7 - Biomarker/Laboratory analysis
tt=8 - Tissue collection/Repository
tt=9 - Educational/Counseling/Training
tt=10 - Behavioral study
tt=11 - Natural history/Epidemiology
tt=12 - Health services research

Is this something that needs to be addressed by Cancer.gov to allow a search for CAM?

For my information:
cn --> Country (1 = U.S.A.)
tt --> Trial Type (1 = Treatment, 2 = Supportive Care, ...)
format --> audience (1 =

It looks like the document you're looking for is found in OCECDR-1806.

Also, I am thinking that we would want to narrow these by Treatment as the trial type, or possibly not narrow by trial type at all. There is no "CAM" trial type. It is an Intervention Type that the trials are coded with.

I finally figured out how to create the URL for the searches to come up correctly for these CAM summaries.
I've setup the search for treatment trials right now (tt=1).

The parameters for Drugs and Intervention are set to:
a) for Drug: ...?id=99999&idtype=1
b) for Intervention ...?id=99999&idtype=5

This is the complete link:
http://www.cancer.gov/Search/ClinicalTrialsLink.aspx?id=574092&idtype=5&tt=1&format=1&cn=1

This is ready for review on FRANCK.

Please make sure to also test the other search strings for treatment and supportive care summaries in case I broke anything.

The diff report on FRANCK did not show any differences but there hasn't been a document for which the filter would have created the new Clin. Trials section either. As soon as the summaries including the section meta data are made publishable the new sections will show up on Cancer.gov.

From an email from Margaret:
I think there may be some discrepancies in which types of trials are being retrieved through the clinical trials search strings in the CAM and Supportive Care summaries.

Here is what is desired:

Desired Currently
------------------— -----------------— -------------------
CAM Patient summaries All trial types All trial types
CAM HP summaries All trial types Treatment only
SC Patient summaries Supportive Care only Not implemented
SC HP summaries Supportive Care only Supportive Care only

I'm reopening this issue to address the two types that need to be implemented.

I have rewritten the section in the filter that is creating the link for the clinical trials searches but I need help testing because I would not know if the link created actually does retrieve the correct protocols.
Also, I don't know which of the non-treatment summaries contain the trial search string.

To make things a little easier for now I'm duplicating each trial search link. The first link (enclosed in brackets) is the new link, the second one is the original link. I'm hoping that this will help to compare the results of the old with the new string. Once everything looks good I will remove the old link before we'll copy this to production.

This is ready to be tested on MAHLER.

Robin said to tell you that she has been diving too deeply into cannabis, and is feeling a little light-headed! It turns out that the supportive care trials that are missing are missing because they are non-US. This brings up the next question, which is, is there anyway for the CAM summaries only, to have the searches not restricted to US trials?

If you give me the summary where Margaret was thinking the trial was missing I could use the URL and quickly test if this parameter has been implemented. I sort of remember that is has.
