We would like to add the option to generate a set of search results that we can distribute to our Board members. This version of the search results should differ in the following ways:
1. Please remove the link to the full citation page.
2. Please reformat the numbers in a way that can be preserved when the
search results are copied/pasted into Word.
Please add "Board Member Version" as an available display option at the bottom of the search database page.
We will need to copy/paste the search results into Word, so that conversion should be part of our testing.
This occurred to me while estimating out "story points" for the task. It may be a bad idea but I wanted to record it so I wouldn't forget it.
Something to consider for this, and maybe other Word oriented tasks, is to avoid copy paste and instead output something in a straightforward, standard, browser independent, clipboard independent, maybe Word version independent and fumble finger independent format. For example, we could generate a search results list in RTF which can be imported into Word.
We could put a button on the screen that said "Export Search Results". The user clicks it and a file is downloaded to her workstation via a dialog box for where to put it, or perhaps it could always be put in her download directory.
Enhancement implemented on DEV.
Hi Bob, Just looked at this on DEV and saw that the VIEW ABSTRACT and DOWNLOAD FULL-TEXT links are missing from the Board member version. Could you please preserve those in the Board member version? Thanks.
