Description

Entries in the drug dictionary include a link to the same drug's Drug Information Summary (if one exists). WCMS would like for the CDR to send this information to GateKeeper as part of the Terminology document.

This would require:

  • Filter changes

  • DTD changes

Note: In legacy drug dictionary code, this was retrieved at run time. During the Feline release, the lookup was moved to GateKeeper.

Presently, the Drug Information Summary contains a link to the terminology document containing the drug's definition. The intent of this ticket is to add a reciprocal link.

Does this change need to be stripped form the data sent to dissemination partners?

Additional concerns:
What happens when a referenced drug info summary is removed? GK needs to be told to reprocess the Drug Dictionary item as well.
Potentially, GK can look at the removed DrugInfoSummary and validate that the previously referenced Terminology document has been updated in the same request.

We decided in the CDR status meeting that the additional link will be included in the data exported to the data partners.

and : is this still a thing?

Sun, Victoria (NIH/NCI) [C] and Learn, Blair (NIH/NCI) [C]: is this still a thing?

The problem with asking two people the same question is that it very often happens that both of them think "maybe the other person will answer this question." So I'll try a more arbitrarily targeted approach.

: is this still a thing?

:-)

Yes. It's still a thing.

GateKeeper is still rummaging around in a database to find this bit of information.

Better question: Is this worth fixing? Using the additional information would require a GateKeeper release.

This is something which should quite possibly be deferred until we know our approach to loading PDQ data into the next CancerGov CMS. (Perhaps the CDR will end up publishing dictionary JSON into the CDRLiveGK database? I honestly don't know.)

Thanks for update, Blair. This is helpful.

We will possibly provide a service in the CDR instead of handling this through GateKeeper.

, this is currently still an issue and it will be an issue as long as the drug dictionary data is processed by Gatekeeper.  The new drug API is soon to be finished and should take care of this issue.

Thanks for looking into this.

As discussed with  in Slack, the assumption that this functionality would require the Drug Dictionary API to have been completed and installed on PROD was incorrect.  The modifications to eliminate Gatekeeper from the publishing process was sufficient.

I confirmed a week ago that this link to a new DIS had been automatically created and I did not have to intervene in order to manually create the link.  I suggest for   to confirm with the next publishing job that includes a new DIS and then close this ticket.
