We had to rebuild MAHLER and decided to upgrade SQL Server to the latest available version for the CDR. At the moment it appears that the upgrade finished without any problems. We want to monitor MAHLER for a few weeks and then, provided there aren't any major issues coming up, upgrade SQL on FRANCK as well.
The target date for this planned upgrade is around May 1st.

Changing priority.

Since Mahler is running long enough with SQL Server 2008 without
problems to call the upgrade a success, we need to start thinking about
upgrading FRANCK.
Changing priority to tackle the task soon.

I had a meeting with Qian and Mauricio. Qian will be installing SQL Server 2008 on Monday morning. She will load the cdr_archived_versions database from disk and then load the CDR database from the nightly backup file from BACH.
Currently, there is also a database named 'Test' on FRANCK.
Bob/Alan: Is there a need to restore this?
Qian did say that the syntax for the SQL Jobs has changed between the old and new versions of SQL server, so we probably will need to spend some time to recreate the jobs from BACH on FRANCK to test these before upgrading BACH down the road.

That's an interesting looking database. It has entries in the "dogs" table for Fred, Fido, Rex, Dal, and Joe, and includes pictures of them.
But I'm not using it.

Qian has upgraded SQL Server on FRANCK to version 2008. In the
process we have moved the cdr and cdr_archived_versions database files
to the directory
D:\DB
This is the same location we had picked for the DB files on MAHLER when
that system was rebuilt earlier this year.
Everything appears to be working OK. I have started a publishing job to run over night.
We will leave the issue open for a bit while monitoring the system. If all goes well we can close this issue and start thinking about an upgrade of SQL Server on BACH.

The publishing job ran without problems over night.
Things are looking good.

We'll do Bach after Franck has chugged along successfully for a few months on the new version.
