From: NCI CIPS Operator Sent: Monday, January 07, 2013 7:15 PM To: NCI CIPS Operator Subject: National Cancer Institute FTP Server Access Changes Announcement for NCI PDQ(c) Distribution Partners The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Office of Communications and Education (OCE) will be upgrading the currently used FTP server (CIPSFTP.NCI.NIH.GOV) in an effort to continue to improve services. The upgrade will not affect the PDQ data made available in XML format. In the next few months, however, NCI will transition to providing this same great PDQ XML content through a SSH File Transfer (SFTP) mechanism. As a current NCI content distribution partner, this would mean that you must use a SFTP-compatible tool to download the PDQ XML content for future downloads. While most modern FTP tools support file transport using both standard FTP and SFTP, NCI recommends verifying that the tool you currently use supports SFTP. For partners who are using an automated process, please be prepared to update your automation scripts as needed to download the PDQ content from NCI's new SFTP service. Please also note that the switch to our new server will require a password change for your account and may require a change in your username. In addition, due to security requirements, passwords for accounts on the new server will have to be reset on a regular basis. This is the first notification in a series to inform all our NCI content distribution partners of the upcoming change. Please look for additional e-mails in the upcoming weeks containing technical specifications regarding NCI's new SFTP service for PDQ content dissemination. Please feel free to forward this information to any other appropriate staff who you feel should be notified. If you have questions on the administrative aspects of these changes, please contact the Licensing Program at: license@cips.nci.nih.gov If you have any technical questions regarding these enhancements, please contact the CTB technical staff at: operator@cips.nci.nih.gov. Thank you for your continued interest and support in distributing cancer information products of the National Cancer Institute.
